This review focuses on key considerations involved in the management of localized, low-risk prostate cancer.  The following primary management options for low-risk disease were evaluated: 

  1. Active surveillance 
  2. Radical prostatectomy 
  3. Interstitial brachytherapy 
  4. Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) 
  5. Proton beam therapy
