Through a unique collaboration with patients, clinicians, manufacturers, insurers and other healthcare stakeholders, ICER develops tools to support patient decisions and medical policy that share the goal of achieving maximum value for every healthcare dollar.

An Integrated Evidence Rating to Frame Comparative Effectiveness Assessments for Decision MakersThe goal of comparative effectiveness research is to support optimum patient-centered care. At the same time, with health care costs a national priority, comparative effectiveness research is expected to help inform the decisions of patients, clinicians, and payers in a way that will reduce the rate of cost growth and ensure that the highest value is obtained for every health care dollar. Among the most important challenges facing the research community is how to make comparative effectiveness reports “fit for purpose”—how to frame and format the results to provide actionable guidance for decisions that can improve the quality and value of health care.
