Distinctive Features
  • Integration of cost-effectiveness models
ICER provides a core expertise in producing and integrating the results of cost-effectiveness modeling in its reviews.  The ICER Integrated Evidence Rating™, which speaks both to comparative clinical effectiveness and comparative value, provides payers with a tangible tool uniquely designed to support value-based benefit designs, reimbursement strategies, and coverage policies.

  • Academic base
ICER assessments are produced through collaborative academic initiatives based at Harvard Medical School and including researchers at institutions such as Johns Hopkins, University of Chicago, UCSF, and Stanford.  This base helps provide an external authority and legitimacy which is valuable when seeking the engagement and respect of physicians and the public.

  • Publicly available assessments
ICER reviews are made available as public goods after earlier release to health plan partners.  The non-proprietary nature of ICER assessments will allow payers to share and discuss them freely with other stakeholders.

  • Timeliness and customization for payers
Although academically based, ICER has been developed with the goal of meeting the needs of decision-makers for efficient and predictable assessment timelines.  ICER will also consult with payers to establish the best approach to designing customized reports for individual payers.
