Julia Hayes, MD

Julia holds an appointment as attending physician at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham & Women\'s Hospital, where her clinical interest is in genitourinary malignancies.  Her research interest is in decision analysis, and her work in outcomes research to date has focused specifically on the risks and benefits of prostate-specific antigen screening for prostate cancer.


 


Dr. Hayes\' decision analytic model of screening for prostate cancer assesses the effect of screening with PSA and DRE on life expectancy (LE), quality adjusted life expectancy (QALE), and the cost effectiveness of screening using data from recent trials in the context of current diagnostic and treatment practice.
